Greetings Brothers,
We’re into September now, so things should be cooling off. I want to start off by going over what happened in August. We started last month with a bang and had our 2nd Chicken BBQ of the year. I have to tell you that we had great help and support for all facets of the event. From Thursday morning to Saturday afternoon all areas were well covered and the sale went as smoothly as I ever remember. I am so proud of everyone and the BBQ was a great success!!!!
A special thanks goes out to JW Steven Lourigan who did an outstanding job. I, also, want to thank Bro. Joe Houser who brought his homemade bread and cheese sticks for sale which sold out and he donated all proceeds to the Lodge.
We also had our 3rd Adopt-a-Highway litter pickup on Saturday, August 19th, and the crew did an excellent job and were finished in an hour and a half. Thank you to all who participated.
On Saturday, August 18th, RW Kyle Smathers held the 10th Masonic District Inspirational Meeting and it was a huge success. There were over 190 people in attendance and it was truly an inspirational night. Not only were the 10th District Brothers and families there, other Brothers from all over the state, to include the entire Grand Lodge elected and appointed line, were there. Their whole purpose for being there was to mix and get to know the Brotherhood better. The speaker for the evening was Sheriff Leon Lott and he gave a great inspirational speech. All in all, it was a special night in South Carolina Masonry.
Now on to our September Stated Meeting. We had a very nice crowd for the meeting and again were treated to another great meal from JW Steven and the kitchen crew. After our standard opening we got on to the business of the Lodge. A motion was made and seconded to send a check to the Grand Lodge to be forwarded to the Hawaiian Relief fund. The Lodge received a Thank You from the George Washington Memorial Fund, and a Thank You from the Nancy K. Perry Children’s Shelter for our donation.
We received a donation from Mary Hammond, In Memory of Clifton C. Adams, PM, and his name will be placed on our Wall of Honor.
After the reading of the minutes for approval, Brother Secretary Bill read a Petition for Membership and an investigating committee was assigned. We then voted on a Brother for Reinstatement and he was elected.
Old Business
Under Old Business, JW Steven Lourigan reported on the success of the bbq and donated a check to the Lodge for $6,000.00 and thanked all who helped.
SD Casey McDermitt gave a report on the cost of replacing the star on the floor of the Lodge with tile in a checkerboard pattern. He will have samples next month.
New Business
Newly raised Bro. Thomas Clawson performed his Master Mason proficiency and did an outstanding job.
